Department of Quantity Surveying |
Welcome to the Department of Quantity Surveying at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Nigeria. ABU was the first Nigerian university to introduce the Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Quantity Surveying programme in 1971. At inception, the programme was resident in the Department of Civil Engineering. In 1972, the Quantity Surveying (QS) along with the Land Surveying (LS) Sections were separated from the Department of Civil Engineering to form an independent and unified department named Department of Surveying. The Department of Surveying produced its first set of graduates in QS in 1974.
The LS and QS Sections of the Department of Surveying have, based on the approval for separation granted by the University Senate at its 407th meeting held on the 26th of July 2007, evolved into two autonomous Departments of Geomatics Engineering and Quantity Surveying. The 410th meeting of ABU senate held on 29th November 2007 approved the movement of the newly created Department of Quantity Surveying to the Faculty of Environmental Design.
The Department of Quantity Surveying is a multi-disciplinary centre for research and teaching in a wide variety of areas that all influence our built environment.
